About ASCE Steel Bridge Competition

The steel bridge competition requires students to design, fabricate and construct a steel bridge while minimizing the number, size, and weight of pieces, size of crew, and time of construction in order to minimize the overall "cost" of the structure. Our 2009 bridge team dominated in construction speed and brought to competition a superb structure that narily missed national competition qualifications.

The bridge competition specifications are hosted on the AISC website. Remember to check the clarifications link for the most updated information.

ASCE Technical Paper
Last year's technical paper centered around Engineering ethics. Rachel Kidwell came to our rescue by writing the piece on an abrupt deadline. She skillfully incorporating the mystique of Alaska and delivered a superb presentation at the conference.
